Artful moments happens within Abbotsford Youth Commission’s free summer drop-in program. Youth ages 12-18 can visit our Youth Centres from 12-4:30 on weekdays in the summer, starting July 2nd. We have a new theme each week, snacks, games, and more!

We will be gathering on the traditional, ancestral, unceded, and shared territories of the Stó:lō People, specifically in the Sem’a:th (Sumas), Mathxw’i (Matsqui) and Leq’a:mel (Mission) First Nations. This is also the lodging home of the Fraser Valley Métis Association.

This weekly gathering circle is made possible by the partnerships with the Mamele’awt Indigenous Education Centre and Metis Nation BC (MNBC) and our volunteers’ generous and dedicated support.

Light snacks, coffee and tea are provided. Help save the land and lend a hand by BYOM (Bringing Your Own Mug).

In 2019, a small group of Métis and First Nations women met and began a weekly inclusive singing and hand drumming circle. Instructor Wenonah Justin member of Cook’s Ferry of the Nlaka’pamux nation with Cree ancestry is a traditional singer, Knowledge Sharer and Drum Carrier. She shares the traditional Salish teachings she learned from Salish Elders in Tiqilip Community Singers.

In the pursuit of helping themselves and others reclaim a culture that was denied to them, D.R.U.M.C. practices Love, Unity, Inclusivity, Acceptance, Indigenous languages, Stories, and Songs.

We will be gathering on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Stó:lō People. Specifically Semá:th (Sumas), Mathexwi (Matsqui), and Laq’ámel (Mission) First Nations. This is also the lodging home for the Fraser Valley Métis Association, a chartered community of Metis Nation BC (MNBC).

The Abbotsford Farm & Country Market was established in 2003 and is operated by the non-profit Abbotsford Farm & Country Market Society.

It combines the best of a modern market experience with a traditional “make, bake, or grow” principle for its juried vendors. As a result, the Abbotsford Farm & Country Market showcases the best in locally grown and produced products along with the creative talents of both artisans and entertainers.

The majority of vendors are growers and food producers from the Abbotsford area. Agri-related businesses generate more than one third of Abbotsford’s economic activity and are responsible for 20% of all local jobs.

Buying local food contributes to a healthier environment by sustaining oxygen producing plants, and reducing greenhouse gases from packaging and long-distance transportation. In addition, local food is fresher, naturally ripened and therefore a healthier choice for you and your family.

By shopping at the Abbotsford Farm & Country Market, you are supporting the health of your loved ones, the environment, and the local economy; and are helping to sustain the availability of local food for future generations.

This camp will explore all aspects of the arts, from drawing and drama to literature and so much more. We’ll end the week with plenty of unique surprises, like an inspirational trip to The Reach Gallery Museum for a guided tour and hands on art activity.

Come join us at Mill Lake – Ware St. Go Play Outside event with Heritage Abbotsford Society, Horseshoe Club & Britt Zurowski (Yoga Instructor). 

This year, Heritage Abbotsford Society will be facilitating a cornhusk doll-making station. With this activity, adults and children alike will learn how to make cornhusk dolls from scratch.  

Gentle Yoga will also be on site brought to you by Britt Zurowski!

These no cost sessions are open to all ages and abilities and no registration is required. We will have an exciting mixture of culture and recreation games and activities for all to enjoy.

Full Day Camp for youth ages 12-15 years. Youth will learn and practice valuable leadership skills with their peers! We’ve combined fun, action-packed, hands-on activities into daily leadership challenges. There’s tons of awesome activities all week that youth will enjoy like group challenges, games. Swimming, snacks, a slurpee run and we’ll even end the week with a field trip to Mill Lake and swim at Centennial Pool.
