by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer & Henry Shields
It’s opening night, and the well-intentioned members of the Cornley University Drama Society are excited to present their latest production, The Murder at Haversham Monor. But things soon go awry as the leading lady is hit unconscious, the corpse refuses to play dead and the actors trip over everything, including their lines!
Despite the mishaps, the accident-prone performers soldier on, intent on completing the performance while attempting to fool their audience into thinking absolutely nothing is wrong. Part Monty Python & part Sherlock Holmes, this hysterical Olivier Award-winning comedy will provide plenty of laughs…and leave audiences with just a bit of stage fright.

Enjoy an evening of beautiful choral and orchestral music by our talented Sistema students, including a work by Elder Mary Fontaine called “Kinan’askom’tinan.” This means, “we honour or praise you for the arts”– that is why we sing, we pray, and we dance. This beautiful and mindful song has, with the permission of Elder Mary, been arranged especially for us by Juno-nominated composer Timothy Corlis. We were able to undertake this project with the support of a SiriusXM Canada and MusiCounts grant.
Bakerview Music Academy is an El Sistema-based program offering donor-funded music lessons for children in Abbotsford. We are part of the Sistema Canada Network and, while we’re not religiously affiliated, we rent space from our very generous landlords at The Gathering Church. Every school year, our students take part in after-school group music lessons from professional music teacher-artists from September to May. Our students enjoy a nutritious snack, followed by choir, musicianship, and instrument classes on the violin, viola, and cello.

Get ready to sip, snack, and savor the season—our picnic area officially re-opens May 14, weather permitting! Open Wednesday through Sunday from 12–7PM, this laid-back outdoor space is perfect for enjoying a bottle of your favorite wine in the sunshine with friends, family, or furry companions (on-leash at all times please).
No reservations are needed—so come early, bring your picnic blanket or grab a spot at one of our tables, and make an afternoon of it. We’re also excited to announce the return of our food trailer, menu coming soon!
Live music will back every Saturday and Sunday from 1–4PM, bringing the perfect soundtrack to your weekend. In the case of rain, performances will be relocated to the lounge—reservations are highly recommended all summer long, as indoor seating is limited. We encourage you to plan accordingly and keep an eye on the forecast before heading out.
Please note in the event of rain, outside bottles and flights cannot be brought into the restaurant due to separate liquor licenses. We appreciate your understanding and can’t wait to welcome you back to the picnic lawn! The following schedule is subject to change at any time. Specific focus for each gathering:
Thursday April 17th
We will be making Easter (paper bag) baskets. For $5, we will make 2 baskets with goodies.
Together, we will make Easter baskets and fill them with goodies. BOGO- Build one and give one away. You will keep one basket and pass along the other basket to someone in the community.
BEADED BRACELETS ARE BACK!
We will be making beaded bracelets with the support from the hidden gem… “Strung out on beads.” For $5 we will make three bracelets.
April 10 – Easter (Pastel Colours)
May 8 – Mother’s Day (Bright Colours)
June 5 – Father’s Day (Neutral/Earthy Tones)
BOGO-BUILD one and give one (in this case two away). You keep one bracelet for yourself and give away the other two bracelets. Please pass on on to someone who could use a little extra kindness. Feeling loved and seen truly matters. Building community one day at a time.
