This engaging program provides a fun, safe, and enriching environment where young learners will explore the wonders of plants, nature, sustainability, and gardening basics. During the summer months, as gardens flourish and the sun shines bright, children will dive into the full growth process, from seed to harvest. Through interactive activities, outdoor exploration, and creative arts, campers will develop valuable practical skills while enjoying the vibrant energy of summer and building a deeper connection to the natural world around them.

How does one tiny seed grow into a plentiful harvest? This week, campers will investigate the life cycle of a garden plant, become seed ID experts, and participate in other hands-on learning activities in the garden. Campers will learn valuable gardening skills, including weeding, watering, and harvesting techniques, and develop an appreciation for the rewarding work of growing and harvesting their own food!

Each day introduces new activities—from building shelters and learning fire safety, to exploring ecosystems, caring for farm animals, fishing, and discovering how a working farm operates. Our goal is to build confidence, curiosity, independence, and a genuine love for the outdoors.

This workshop is an introduction to sketching birds using simple shapes, ink lines, and loose watercolour. Participants will learn approachable techniques to capture posture, movement, and character without focusing on detail. The workshop emphasizes observation, play, and building confidence in drawing. No previous experience is needed.

All materials are included, and participants will receive a small printed reference sheet to take home.

Breathe in the moment, bloom from within. Find some intentional and grounding movement outdoors to kick off your weekend!

We will move through seated postures, standing postures, and mindful connection to our breath, before taking a restful savasana.

Make it a full Friday evening and grab a beverage before or after class. Foxglove will have $2 off drinks during their Happy Hour starting at 5pm and extending to after class. Yoga attendees also receive 20% off any retail purchase after class!

Experience one of the Fraser Valley’s most colourful summer events! The Fraser Valley Dahlia Society invites the public to its one-day Dahlia Show on Saturday, August 15, at King Road Church in Abbotsford.

Dahlia growers from across British Columbia and the United States will exhibit spectacular blooms in a wide variety of sizes, forms, and colours. Entries will be judged according to American Dahlia Society standards, with ribbons awarded to the top exhibits.

The show is open to the public from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and admission is free. Whether you’re an avid gardener, a flower enthusiast, or simply looking for a beautiful afternoon outing, you’ll be amazed by the incredible diversity and beauty of these award-winning flowers.

Campers will explore how water helps BC farms thrive and why it’s so important to protect it. Campers will make a splash investigating how water is used on BC farms with a focus on learning about water conservation. During the week, campers will get hands on by inventing their own irrigation systems, exploring different methods of filtering water, and having fun in the sun with some water-based games!

In our 6 week pottery course, you will learn the basic skills of wheel thrown pottery. During each three-hour lesson you will be guided to discover your personal approach to the art of clay throwing. Learn the essential skills of wedging, centering (the most gloriously frustrating, hypnotising process you’ll ever experience), wheel throwing, trimming and decorating. You’ll be able to take a ball of mud and throw it into something beautiful and unique. In the final week, we come together for a glazing session to turn our masterpieces into fully functional ceramics. Projects may include small bowls, tumblers, plant pots, vases and mugs.

This course is aimed at beginners and also for those who’ve had a few lessons, but need a refresher to improve their technique. We recommend that you wear clothing that can get muddy and bring an old towel. Short fingernails can be an advantage.

Instruction, glaze, all materials and firings are included. Clay is available for purchase at $25 per bag.

Join Wendy Haffner for a hands-on painting workshop exploring the character and colour of coastal trees. Using colour theory as a guide for mixing paint, participants will create a small painting capturing the distinct style of a coastal tree — a great opportunity to build confidence with colour mixing while working alongside a skilled instructor.

Wendy Haffner has been an artist all her life, working across glass blowing, glass sculpture, drawing, and painting. She was faculty at the Alberta University of the Arts for four years and now works as a painter and instructor. She is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, Granville Island, and the Fraser Valley.
