We can’t wait to celebrate Canada Day with you at one of Abbotsford’s biggest community celebrations of the year. Before you head out, here’s everything you need to know to help plan your day.

PARADE

  • Parade Route: Proceeds down South Fraser Way from Bourquin Crescent, down Trethewey Street, and ends at W.J. Mouat Secondary School on Mouat Drive.
  • Time: 11 AM Parade Start

Arrive early to secure a viewing spot along the parade route. Road closures will be in effect prior to the parade start time:

  • South Fraser Way: 10 AM – 2 PM
  • Bourquin Crescent W: 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM
  • Trethewey Street (From South Fraser Way to Maclure Road): 10 AM – 2 PM

PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD

Have a favourite float, performance, or parade entry? Cast your vote for the People’s Choice Award and help us recognize the parade participant that best captured the spirit of Abbotsford Canada Day.

Voting will be open during the parade, with the voting link shared on the City of Abbotsford’s Instagram and Facebook pages. The winner will be announced during the Official Ceremony at 2:00 PM at the Canada Day Festival at Abbotsford Exhibition Park.

Free public parking will be available at:

Please follow all event signage and parking attendants upon arrival. Additional walking time may be required from overflow parking locations.

Please note that exiting parking lots at Abbotsford Exhibition Park may take additional time at the end of the evening, particularly following the fireworks display. Please plan accordingly and expect delays when leaving the event site.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

  • Don’t forget to bring:
    • Sunscreen & hats
    • Lawn chairs or blankets
    • Refillable water bottles (Re-fill stations available at the festival site)
  • Please dispose of garbage and recycling responsibly. Waste stations will be available across the event site. Refer to the Green Team (wearing green shirts) for any questions regarding waste.
  • Pets are welcome, but all animals must remain on a leash at all times.
  • Event details are subject to change due to weather or operational requirements.

Canada Day can get busy, so we encourage families to make a plan before exploring the festival grounds.

  • Take a photo of your child before arriving at the event.
  • Review a meeting spot in case your group becomes separated.
  • Teach children to look for event staff or volunteers if they need help.
  • If a child becomes separated from their parent or guardian, or if a parent/guardian is looking for a lost child, please go directly to the Information Tent for assistance.

  • Stay aware of your surroundings in crowded areas.

ACCESSIBILITY

The City of Abbotsford, in partnership with Tourism Abbotsford, continues to expand accessibility and inclusion features at this year’s Canada Day celebration to help create a welcoming and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Returning is the sensory-safe area, operated by the Monarch House, open to all ages from 1–6 PM.

Additional accessibility features include:

  • Accessible washrooms throughout the festival site, including accessible portable washrooms along the parade route;
  • Multi-lingual volunteers available on site for assistance;
  • Designated drop-off and pick-up zones for individuals with mobility challenges;
  • Complimentary wheelchairs available on site for public use.
